Sushil Kumar the first Indian Athlete to win back to back two Individual Olympic medals.

Sushil Kumar is an Indian freestyle wrestler. Competing in the 66 kg weight division he won the 2010 world title, a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Coming from a modest background, Sushil Kumar was inspired by his cousin and father to take up wrestling. His family members provided him with all the necessities that he needed in order to make sure that he succeed as a wrestler.

Sushil Kumar’s father Diwan Singh was a D. T. C bus driver and a wrestler. Sushil was only 14 when he first started wrestling.

His cousin Sandeep, a local wrestling champion, encouraged him to take up wrestling. But since the family’s meager resources permitted only one of them to follow wrestling, Sandeep had to quit.

In 2012 , he refused to appear for the advertisement of a liquor brand believing that it would send a wrong message to the youth.

Sushil Kumar has won Five gold medals in Commonwealth Games, one Silver and one Bronze medal in Olympics.

He is also the first and the only Indian athlete to win two Olympic medal at for Independent India.

Sushil Kumar is an Employee at The Indian Railways as an assistant commercial manager.

Sushil Kumar doesn’t eat non-vegetarian food and has campaigned for Peta’s go vegetarian campaign.

In July 2009, Sushil Kumar was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna by Indian government – India's highest honour for sportspersons.

Sakshi Malik was born on September 3, 1992 in the Mokhra village of Rohtak district in Haryana. Her father Sukhbir Malik holds a job with the Delhi Transport Corporation while her mother Sudesh is a government employee.

She took up wrestling at the age of 12 under the guidance of Ishwar Dahiya at a local akhara.

It was not easy as Dahiya (A Rajput and Jat clan in India) had to constantly resist protests from locals who were against the training of girls. Things slowly changed and they became more accepting as the girls from the akhara started to shine in competitions.

Her parents, despite not being associated with sports, fully backed their daughter and did everything possible to help her fulfill her dreams. From arranging for her coaching to taking care of her nutrition and diet, they ensured that their daughter got all the help that she needed.

Sakshi flourished at the sub-junior and junior level and even claimed a bronze medal at the 2010 Junior World Championships in the 59kg category.

In the year 2014, Sakshi Malik got her hands on her first gold medal. She competed under the weight category of 60 kg in the freestyle wrestling in two years back ,at the Dave Schultz International Tournament.

Sakshi  Malik won the silver medal in the 58kg category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. She was beaten by Aminat Adeniyi of Nigeria 0-4 in the final and had to settle for the second place.

In the year 2015, Sakshi Malik won a bronze medal at the 2015 Senior Asian Wrestling Championships in the 60kg category.

Sakshi Malik qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics by defeating China's Zhang Lan in the semifinal of the 58 kg category at the Olympic World qualifying tournament in May 2016.

And later at Olympics she won the bronze medal after a 8–5 victory over the reigning Asian champion Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan, despite trailing 0–5 at one stage, in the repechage medal playoff, and became India's first female wrestler to win an Olympic medal.

Sakshi Malik is employed by Indian Railways. She is currently posted in the commercial department of the Northern Railway, in the Capital Delhi.

Sakshi Malik has already set her eyes on the next Olympics. She plans to win medals in the Olympics 2020, which will be held in Tokyo. She has already started intensively training for her target of Tokyo Olympics 2020.
